Ambleside & The Lakes

The Lake District is one of the most beautiful locations in England. Visitors from all over the world travel here to experience the abundance of lakes, forests and mountains that cover the landscape and feel the buzzing atmosphere, rich in culture and history. This really is the place to be.

The View

No other inn can boast our lakeside setting, looking out over the largest natural lake in England.  We have a great central location, which means access around The Lakes is easy. Not only is the water host to an array of glorious boats and water steamers; it is also teaming with wildlife. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy what nature has to offer.

  • A Day Out

Why not bask in some local culture and visit Hill Top near Sawrey, Hawkshead – An idyllic 17th century farm house where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her stories. Hill Top was left to the trust after her death and has remained in its original state ever since.

Wateredge is just a short stroll from Waterhead Pier from where you can take a cruise on the Lake. Choose from a short cruise to enjoy the views or spend the day and stop off at the various attractions around the lake. There are many nearby attractions & activities to keep everyone happy, be it walking, hiking, cycling or shopping!
